LPI認證是對Linux應用技能的認證，它不是由哪壹家Linux發布廠商提供的產品認證，而是站在壹個中立的、第三方的角度，對Linux廣泛和通用的技術水平進行考核，考試標準是根據Linux標準基礎(LSB)制訂的。制訂這個考試認證標準的組織就是LPI國際認證協會,他們的成員是來自世界各地的誌願者，而這個協會所需的各種經費都是由世界各地的企業贊助的。LPI國際認證協會的作用就是制訂Linux考試標準、設計考題和更新考試題庫，各地LPI分會的作用是推動LPI認證及開源軟件在各地的發展,為世界各地的Linux專業人士服務。LPI總部設在加拿大的多倫多，在中國、日本、德國等地設有LPI考試認證分會，LPI目前在全球可以用七種語言進行考試。 因為各種Linux版本的配置和習慣有很大不同，LPI考試要包容各種版本的特征就必然會給考生增加壹些困難，比如同時考rpm和dpkg就要求考生對Redhat和Debian兩個版本的使用都非常熟練。但基本上考試的要求是基於LSB,所以對各個版本中有沖突的細節問題都可以參照LSB( http://www.linuxbase.org/) ，參加LPI認證有助於妳對LSB的了解，所以LPIC是通行Linux職場的全天侯認證。 LPI考試介紹 壹、考試類型： LPI考試分網上考試（機考）和紙面考試（筆試）兩種形式；考試時考生針對兩種考試類型可任選壹種參加，所得證書相同。 二、考試語言： LPI考試在全球分中文、英文等七種語言；LPIC-1的考試可選擇中文或英文（101、102）；LPIC-2和LPIC-3只有英文考試。報名考試時需註明考試科目及考試語言，否則默認為英文試題。 三、考試時間： 上機考試120分鐘/科，紙面考試 90分鐘/科 四、LPI考試認證級別： LPIC認證分為三級：LPIC-1、LPIC-2、LPIC-3。 LPIC的分級是以“工作任務分析”(JTA)的調查為基礎來決定每種任務適合某種等級.在LPI考試的開發過程中，使用了公認的認知心理學來開發和完善 JTA，以使其達到它的相關性和高質量。
