「微軟認證開發專家(MCPD)」與「微軟認證IT專家(MCITP)」共屬於技術專家系列認證，分別側重開發能力和IT應用管理能力兩個方面。「微軟認證開發專家」提供了一個簡單明確的架構來展現開發人員的經驗與技能，證明開發人員能夠綜合而全面地使用微軟開發工具，在工作崗位上成功開展工作。

必須預先具備「微軟認證技術工程師（MCTS）」認證
每2－3年需要重新認證
